Blair Watson is a Study Abroad Advisor at Georgia State University. She began her love for international education as an undergraduate at Wake Forest University, where she majored in French and participated in her first study abroad experience, in Dijon, France. She also holds a MA in French Translation from Kent State University and a PhD in French Literature from Emory University. As part of her PhD, she participated in her second study abroad program, in Montpellier, France and later served as a program assistant for Emory's Summer Abroad in Paris program. She also created a program for Dakar, Senegal with the intention of increasing access to study abroad experiences, particularly to non-European spaces. She has been a French professor at various institutions across the United States, where she has been a vocal advocate for the power of study abroad and international education. Her classes and research always sought to facilitate encounters with diverse perspectives and voices from all across the Francophone world, with a focus on the African diaspora. In her role as Advisor her aim is to continue this work by empowering students in their cross-cultural learning and helping them on their path to becoming global citizens.
