Dr. Christian M. Canizales

Originally from Jonesboro, Arkansas, Christian Canizales (He/Him) earned his B.A. In World Languages and Cultures and Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University and his Master of Public Service from the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service. Canizales studied abroad during his undergraduate career in Costa Rica and conducted graduate research in Peru. Christian's dissertation investigated the ways in which undocumented and DACA recipient Latine students in Arkansas view and overcome their challenges. His favorite place that he has traveled is a tie between Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Arequipa, Peru. Christian believes that international education is vital to any individual's journey but within the context of higher education specifically, he believes it provides students the opportunity to challenge preconceived notions, learn new things about themselves, and propel their journey toward global citizenry.
